Inclusion Philosophy

The following is an excerpt from my philosophy on the inclusion of special needs students in the general education classroom. You can read my entire philosophy here.

“When it comes to inclusion, there is no one cut and dry answer. While some students may thrive in a regular classrooms, others might struggle even more there. The important thing is to evaluate each student individually and insure that they are placed in the classroom where they can learn at their absolute best. No student should be locked away from learning things that they are more than capable of learning, but they should also never be thrown into a setting where they will be unable to keep up with the pace. It is my belief that with a proper mixture of inclusion, pull-out services, and, when applicable, full classroom inclusion, schools can help their students achieve the highest possible success in whatever setting is best for them.”
