Kindergarten “Book Suitcase” Project

This interactive book suitcase is designed to for students to take home all books and materials and complete the activities with their family. The materials include a letter for parents, reading guides to 3 different age appropriate books, a rhyming activity, a writing activity, a math activity, and a science activity, all focused on the books included.

The activities included address the following standards:

RL.K.1 With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.

RF.K.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and phonemes (sounds).
a. Recognize and produce rhyming words.

W.K.5 With guidance and support from adults, respond to questions and suggestions from peers and add details to strengthen writing as needed.

K.CC.5 Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.

K.LS.1: Living things have specific characteristics and traits.
